"No, it's what YOU think is best for everyone. That's not the same thing as what IS best," Stiles says, hands curling into fists at his side. "And that's not true, you know it isn't. I know that's what you think but it's not true. Sure, a lot of things would have been different if you hadn't come here. But Scott still would have been bitten, only he would still be Peter's Beta and god knows how he would have turned out. I could be dead by now, for all we know.
"The Alpha pack would have still showed up, Jennifer would still have come to town and- and... it would be worse if you never came back. You have to know that," Stiles says, willing Derek to believe him. "At least with you here we all stood a fighting chance."
He knows he still hasn't answered Derek why he wants him to stay, but Stiles is afraid of that. Afraid that if he tells him it won't mean anything and Derek will still leave and take Stiles' heart with him.
